Almost half way complete. I cannot believe how many different colors are needed for this piece. This is a freehand project. Attempted to use a bead graph but it was too restrictive. The piece changes with different light sources.

Dear Annalis,
Another offering from the Equine journal. I feel definitively drawn to this conversation with the creature. The first appearance of time reference appears in this passage. It gave me the impression that this is a new concept for it to grasp.
Tendrils of energy flow outward. Reaching to the far corners of her limits, searching out the signals powerful enough to grasp. The waves fluctuate along the entire spectrum attempting to locate an oscillating match within this quadrant of existence. Various energy signatures draw her attention but are quickly dismissed as their patterns and frequencies disrupt her current symmetry. The search continues for many cycles of the solar body before at last success. Nearly two-hundred celestial intervals have elapsed since her emergence into this quadrant and her hopes of discovering an adequate advocate had swindled. Here at the extreme range of her newly extended sensors appears energy that sings in harmony to her own. Powerful, steady and unphased by her touch. A dialog is started and she once again moves forward.
As I read these words again, I cannot help thinking of Katryna and her relationship with the Equine. From the dream journal the Equine infers that it takes a distinct mind to allow cognizant contact. Brain waves emitted at a specific frequency and additional oscillation to attract the creatures own complicated wave emissions. I know from Katryna that there have only been a handful of people over the last hundred years who were able to communicate with the Equine on her level. I believe only a few dozen by her estimation and all native Neo-Britannians. I am not sure how to interpret the Equine’s reference of time intervals. It could be referring to the celestial cycles of Alpha Centauri II or even Proxima as it is also within this system. Since there has only been human colonists on New London for a little over two hundred planetary years I believe it is referring to the planetary time frame. As I said before, time seems a strange and unfamiliar concept to the Equine so I may be completely off track in this assessment of the dream entry. I cannot help but conclude the ability to attract the Equine by these few is related to the brain activity detected by my scans. Harmonic frequencies seem to draw the creature to these people. In reference to the scans completed on Katryna, she does have definitive increases in certain frequency ranges not prominent in the Earth born brains. It also fits in with the creatures reaction to the music performed at the conservatory. There was such a vast offering of wavelengths and frequencies during the performance I attended and later the recordings that I studied, the Equine must have been basking in the glow of these oscillations. I must delve deeper into this line before I attempt to include an auditory addition to my art.
Another week has passed and Katryna is settling into her new role here at the studio. She has taken over the archival tasks needed to capture my daily activities and has started recording the complicated processes needed to obtain the sustainability test results. This has given her new insight into how her own relationship with the Equine works by studying my processes. She also has a talent with the care of living things and has started creating a paradise in my hydro garden and greenhouse. Since Addison will be leaving the site in a little over a month it has been a great help for her to stabilize this area of my complex. Along with the archiving of my own activities she has been experimenting with new way to record her own visions from the Equine, hoping to discover a way to make them more clear for her clients. Although the artistic aspects of her apprenticeship did not come to fruition it does seem that she is going to benefit from her time with me. I feel a bit guilty at times since her presence here has been extremely helpful in adding additional data to my study of the local environment and inhabitants. I hope as time progresses she will reap the harvest of our collaboration. She has not been forthcoming on how her own studies are progressing but I hope she will reveal this in her own time. It is enough for me now that she is benefiting to some degree.
I have now completed the full depiction of the Equine using only Neo-Britannian material. It is a mesmerizing piece and I catch myself staring at the canvas every time I pass it in the studio. It is several centimeters larger than any of my other renditions and the native material adds additional depth and vibrance compared to my earlier works. I have been occupied over the last few days with the installation of the intricate signal connecting lines within the piece. The frustrations caused by this complicated application is beyond description. It takes my full concentration to keep my hands steady as i run the delicate gossamer wires through the weave of the canvas, creating connections between the different emission points. Luckily I can do most of this installation from the back side of the painting. If I had to execute this task in full view of the hypnotic rendition of the Equine form I would be unable to maintain the needed concentration. I reminds me of grandmother teaching us to knit. One false move and the entire pattern unravels. I still have at least two more exhausting days to complete this task then I can move on to the larger electronic components. After that I will have to wait for you. The neural repeater levels and delta frequency wave settings are way beyond my pay grade. These will have to wait for you and your completed research results at the space lab before the levels can be set. I have included a scan of this last piece with this letter. I completed the scan before I began the connector installation so there would be no interference from the electrical signals. I was able to tweak my resonant camera to catch the new aspects of the Anomaly in this latest work. This includes also the visibility of the new spectral additions my equipment previously did not pick up. It is the most accurate image I have achieved so far on a digital level and if I compare the copy to the original there are few omissions. I only hope that after it travels millions of kilometers through space to your lab that nothing gets lost in the vastness of empty vacuum.
I have still not heard from the Flynn foundation scientist Dr. Falton. This is unfortunate since within the next month the movement of the Equine should start to be apparent. I have given up any attempt to contact him and hope that in time he will contact me. I have attempted to obtain more information on the satellite facility over the last few weeks through public channels. There has been a few tidbits of information there as the foundation is busy building up to the official opening of the research center in the next few months. This may be why Dr. Falton is out of contact. His is the head of the research division and must be swamped. We will just have to wait and see. It does not help to dwell on this particular mystery since all my attempts have been to no avail and it distracts me from my true goal.
The time is quickly drawing near to your arrival in this system. When the components are in place for my latest piece I am going to contact Nikolas. A trip to the highlands will be a welcome divergence to help me wait out the last few months. I also cannot move forward with our project at that point as I will need your expertise. I miss you so much.
Love,
Victoria
I have encountered a problem that I did not anticipated. Katryna has now been with me for several weeks and it is very apparent that she has no artistic tendency for painting. She cannot draw or paint and her attempts at tint reproduction has been a lesson in futility. I am at my wits end for a solution to this road block. I cannot fault Katryna as she has put as much effort into this endeavor as I could hope, but it has only produced one disaster after another. I must sadly conclude that another outlet must be chosen for the interpretation of her work with the Equine and leave this latest struggle in the past. She is very disappointed but accepting of my assessment since she can also see the results from the last few weeks. Katryna’a visual perception distorts the subject when she puts it to canvas and her attempts at material production has only produced pots and pots of grey sludge. I wish I had your guidance here and this is not the last time my desire for your presents will cross my mind. I was very precise in following Master Denon’s teaching methods but can only conclude another avenue must be found for Katryna. I will not burden you with any further details but let me just say my patience and supplies are now greatly depleted.
On a high note, the scans I have completed on Katryna and myself have revealed some amazing results. Although I see increased activity in my own numbers it is nothing in comparison to Katryna’s brain functions. Her scans differ from any I have studied on Earth. For one thing she uses more of her cognizant brain than any I have seen recorded. The average human on Earth utilizes only about thirty-one percent of the cognizant brain, allowing the rest of their head to run the involuntary bodily functions. Even the so called child prodigies are no higher than forty percent. Katryna’s scans indicate fifty-two percent of her brain can be focused on one specific area or idea. I am not sure what this indicates but I can see in my imagination your eyebrows rising as you read this developement. You have long studied the function of the brain and how to direct it away from the everyday running of the body function and into a more lucrative controllable function. It may have something to do with her prolonged interaction with the Equine or possibly the environment of New London as we concluded in our early studies. Whatever the cause the results are phenomenal. I have never viewed a more pristine scan than Katryna’s. The structural layout and emitted frequencies are so systematic it reminds me of the binary boards built for the super computers. Although the apprenticeship is not turning out as she planned, Katryna has agreed to remain for the allotted time we had agreed upon and will allow me to perform several more scans for study. I will send the first set of data to you along with the last results of my material sustainability tests, I hope my conclusions meet with your approval as this seems a significant find for our work and definitive proof that our original study of the effects of New London on the human brain were correct . If the environment of New London also improves brain function as well as the interactive artistic benefits, think of the implications this could have in your field of perceptual neurology. If a Neurophysician can use this produced image of the Equine to improve or even cure a brain deficiency this will more than convince the Louvre sponsors of the benefits of further funding for our endeavors. Not only will it be possible to offer the world a new artistic experience but we may also be able to offer advanced benefits to the medical community as well.
My involvement in our project is at a high point at this time as you can detect. I will use this opportunity to produce my first rendition using exclusively New London sourced material. I did find a pure gypsum source last week that is only a few kilometers from the studio. Since I have been running every day after breakfast I am able to explore directions of the surrounding areas previously unknown to me. On one of my excursions I noticed a large pale smudge on the horizon east of my path. Once I returned to my home I checked the survey maps for any information on what it could be. The maps showed only granite and shale mountain terrain. I asked Katryna to take a ride with me out to the area. She has brought along her Roanian mount for the extent of her apprenticeship and they are hardy enough to carry two people for limited distances. She saddle up Faraday as she has designated her steed and we rode out in the direction of my sighting. After covering about twenty kilometers we came upon the pale area I had viewed from afar. It was a small embankment at the foot of the mountains consisting mostly of gypsum. Unlike the source I found in the western mountain range this one was not contaminated with iron. It has produced a fine canvas conditioner with neutral attributes and once mixed with the local linseed oil, an excellent paint stabilizer. Since these were the last pieces of the material puzzle, I can now produce a full New Britannian portrayal of the Equine. I cannot say that Katryna was responsible for this find but her presence here has been beneficial despite the artistic situation. Not only is her emotional stability grounding for me but I find that having her here alleviates a little of the melancholy your absence creates. It is not altogether forgotten but has at least become bearable during this phase of our work.

Victoria
Dear sister,
Once again you return to my dreams. Silver snowflakes tumble from the leaden sky, covering your shoulders in a glittering mantel. Your auburn hair is pulled back away from your face and cascades down your back in an elaborate braid glittering with drops of melted ice. You are clad in the ensemble mother created for your first visit to the opera but now in a mature rendition. The lake behind you is frozen and I can just make out the fish struggling to reach the surface. They collide with the ice in a vain attempt to crack the thick rime separating them from the world above. You gesture to the sky above and when I direct my gaze up to the snow ridden air I see the Equine. It’s form is just visible through the thick cloud layer and I can make out a strange distortion maring it’s beautiful form. The creature has become elongated. Straining horizontally three times the normal width. An overpowering sense of suffering reaches me from the Anomaly. Panic and extreme exertion radiate from the space above, filling my mind beyond it’s limits and crushing my delight at seeing you. I pull my gaze from the sight above and focus once more on your face. There is sorrow in your eyes and tears flow from them to drop like frozen opals onto the snow covered ground, I stare at the quickly growing collection around you marveling at the reflection of the Equine within their opulent surface. Although I welcome your return to my dreams, I awoke this morning very unsettled.
I have just returned from my run, totally exhausted but saturated with life stimulating endorphins. I forgot how invigorating this natural form of exercise can be having depended exclusively on the simulator since my departure from Earth. The systems were necessary aboard the Derringer and space lab but I should have made more time here on New London for natural exercise. I have been relying on the computer environment installed in my workshop for my daily exertions but I realized this morning it was inadequate for my current mental state and I made the decision to extend my run to the outdoors today. Not only because the weather condition are now ideal for this type of activity but it was the only way I could pull my spirit back to the present. My thoughts kept returning to that icy shore and the tormented creature above. I knew the simulator would not be sufficient to return my attention to the present and it has been a good reminder of my enjoyment of this natural activity. I have now returned to a semblance of my normal self but the need to relay this experience to you should be the final treatment to allow me to return to work. I cannot begin to interpret the meaning behind this vision but on any type of level it was not encouraging. It brings back the view of the Equine we saw from Earth that will soon be visible here on New London and the growth towards the Flynn foundation satellite. I hope our original conclusions for the movement are correct and that the Equine is reaching out to the children in order to assist the research there. The vision last night brings a more sinister prognosis for the elongation of the Anomaly’s limbs and the idea creates an ominous atmosphere for my thoughts to dwell in. The run has not totally washed away these dark ideas but I am able to analyze it now with a bit more logic. I will return tomorrow to the Equine journal as I seem to find guidance there when I most need it. The entries strangely correspond to my current situation and although this may only be coincidental it is equally comforting either way. A small nudge of guidance if you will from my companion above.
Katryna arrives tomorrow and I am as prepared as I can be for her apprenticeship to begin. I have the one reference piece of the Anomaly completed and enough raw material for her to produce the basic spectrum of paints. The first task will be the discovery of a green tint material to replace the pytherium and also a native source for the canvas conditioner. I only hope my present state of mind will not be too evident when she arrives but I fear this will not be entirely possible as she is a very perceptive soul. I am not ready to delve into our dream encounters at his time since it would interfere with the work she will be undertaking. In the future it might be helpful to consult with her in the interpretations of my dreams but for now I want to keep them to myself. They are to intimate to share as they are my only contact with you for now.
I have completed the setup of the metrology equipment, including the creation of an interface with the lab equipment in the workshop. Hopefully this will streamline the direct comparison data between a real time solar event and the lab equipment readings during the same period. The shielded bunker built for the atmospheric units should block out any erroneous signals from the planet surface and record only the noise projected from Alpha Centauri. The only issue with the setup was the miscalculation of the bunker size. I forgot to include the increase in size of the liquid helium separation unit. Since it needs to be ten centimeters longer to compensate for the atmospheric conditions on this planet this was not included in my original designs. It is a little tight within the structure now but since I do not need to spend more than a few minutes a month inside this should not be an issue. The isolating gap for the liquid helium to encapsulate the receiver was sufficient so at least that part of my designs were not affected by the thinner atmosphere of New London. The passive environmental controls create a stable atmosphere within the space so the equipment will also need a minimal amount of maintenance. Before sealing up the bunker I did scan the strange symbol inside the atmospheric scanner. I have compared it to the shield symbol present in my notes from the Louvre. They are identical. I am now convinced you placed this inside the unit before it was assembled. I am very curious why you did this and did not mention it to me, but since it will be six month before I am able to ask you I will have to be patient. It is not a normal thing for you to keep secrets from me. Maybe a little mystery to keep my mind busy or a distraction to pull me out of my artistic stupor? Whatever you reasoning I will have to wait and wonder.
I feel the workshop whispering my name. I only hope the dream last night will not affect my next representation of the Equine. I will begin my work day with one of the stronger music selections from the conservatory. That should bring up memories of the creature during the performance in Delphi and push the visions of last night to the back of my thoughts. I would rather paint the dancing Equine than the distorted vision I experienced over the icy lake.
With loving thoughts.

Once again I am immersed in my art, returning my attention to the interpretation of the emissary above. The addition of the music I purchased in Delphi to the atmosphere of my workshop has been amazing. I find myself transported back to that magical night, lost in my painting for hours on end, stopping for neither sustenance nor rest. I was finally forced to pause mid-week, but only to receive the delivery of the metrology equipment. The incessant clang of metal on metal drew me out of my dream state making me aware that someone was outside in the courtyard. I then remembered that Addison was away from the site for the day and quickly wiped my hands of vermillion and went outside to investigate. A large Calvinite suspension vehicle sat just outside the fence and a woman was banging a heavy rod against the gate. I apologized for the delay and opened the gate indicating where she could unload the crates. She noticed my intent gaze as she hefted the heavy rod that she had used to get my attention onto her shoulder. She said she rarely had to use it for protection but it made an admirable implement to gain customers attention in the rural areas. She then proceeded to unload the equipment using a lift utilizing the same calvinite principle as her vehicle. I then thanked her for the service and once I had watched her vehicle disappear out of site, returned to me studio.
I have completed another full version of the Equine and also a small comparison work for the start of Katryna’s training. I focused attention on the separation of the various materials in this latter painting to create an easier study piece for her. She will need to decipher the individual materials and then replicate the tint using the supplies I have arranged for her. It was difficult to pull myself away from my own work to produce this basic piece but since this was the final preparation I needed to complete before her arrival next week I can now fully concentrate on the Equine.
I can already see the influence of the music in my new interpretation. The memory of the Equine’s display during the performance in Delphi remains vivid in my mind and as I paint my hand automatically adds the oscillating patterns to the rendition, The music fills my studio, echoing through the space bringing back full recollection of that night, These patterns are not currently visible in the structure of the Equine but their memory within me are clear. I only hope that during the next scheduled performance in Delphi I will also be able to view the creatures response here. I obtained a copy of the conservatory performance schedule when I visited there and have added these dates to my agenda.
I returned from my travels fully loaded with goods. I purchased four audio performances from the conservatory along with a list of musicians willing to make contact with me. I also have a new supply of coffee from the Newton shop along with a selection of teas. Unfortunately the herbalist shop visit was not as successful since it had only a small offering of the pytherium. I purchased all that she had in stock plus a copy of the indigenous plant guidebook she referred to on my previous visit. The proprietess remembered my interest in the book and kindly ordered one on the off chance I might return, The book has a large section on the cultivation of native medicinal plants and the woman thought it was possible for me to grow the pytherium at my studio. She gave me some cuttings from her own hydro-garden and I carefully stored them wrapped in moss for the remainder of my journey. They are now transplanted in the agricultural cube behind my studio along with my other agrarian endeavors. Since the normal atmosphere of the studio location is to arid for this material the aqua growing cube will be my best chance for success. I was able to purchase enough supply for the next few months but it will not be enough for Katryna to utilize during her training. I will only have to find a substitute for this vibrant color since the electrical and physical properties are not relevant to her apprenticeship.
Before I began my new piece this week I read the next offering from the Equine journal. I had hoped for some insite to how the Equine growth is connected to the information it receives. I was not disappointed in my answer as you will see from the following transcription. Once again, I have not altered the wording from the journal.
-Myriads of unconnected information travel up and down her neural streams. The information is slowly gathered into pockets, categorizing each loose piece to fit into a specific location in the framework of her patterns. The sections begin to build and new formations appear in organized, easy to interpret formats. She continues to arrange the information until all the uncontrolled signals are neatly traveling down predetermined pathways. She now feels able to continue her search and turns her attention once again outwards. She has yet to find a specimen worthy of in depth contact. The neural strength required by her to continue needs to be more robust than her last few encounters, The beings so far could have been easily damaged by a more sustained contact. Somewhere in this vast area there must be a suitable candidate.-
Reading this last entry I realize either my ability to understand the conversation with the Equine had improved during my illness or the Equine’s interactions with humans was increasing its knowledge of our language. The journal still refers to the creature as female but my conscious interpretation is still one of neutrality. The entry was very brief but supplied a new insight into the inner workings of creature.
Tomorrow I will begin first thing to set up the metrology equipment. If I do not I will get caught up in a new vision and we will never have any atmospheric data. Since this is a necessary piece of the research puzzle I will focus my attention there before I step foot in the workshop. It will be interesting to see how the atmosphere of New London changes the wavelengths emitted by the Equine as compared to the reading taken from your new lab. It should take two full months to accumulate enough numbers for an adequate comparison. As soon as I have these files I will send them to your data cache. The equipment aboard the Phycodurus-8 should have more than enough information for you to compare to by then and as soon as you are recovered from your travels we can begin the next stage of the project. Creating a piece of art reflecting these two experimental location and bringing the full Equine encounter to the citizens of Earth. I am still working on how to incorporate the music into the equation but for now it is a great companion to my creativity.
Love Always,
Victoria
Dear Annalis,
With the light of day streaming into my room, I awoke this morning from the dream that was last nights performance. Reluctant as I am, I must let go of the amazing euphoria the evening produced and place my energy into more logical pursuits before leaving Delphi. I did not mention the disappointing results I had with the metrology department in my last letter since it would have diminished the importance of the musical journey I wanted to share with you.
I did obtain the historical data requested, but it is suspiciously lacking in solar flare activity. There were only thirty recorded occurrences of solar flares that were strong enough to register on the equipment located here on Neo-Britannia. None of these were during the timeframe I was present on the Phycodurus-8 and none had the signal pattern matching the data recorded on your optical enhancement unit or wave detector. Since the equipment here on New London has been operational for over one hundred years, there is obviously a large amount of data missing. The man at the metrology division did advise me that he was only able to acquire the last twenty years of readings for me, but still there are fewer detectable solar episodes than standard for a star of Alpha Centauri’s age. With this limited data I am on my own to discover the cause of the erroneous patterns your equipment picked up during the occurrence on the spacelab. There is nothing recorded here to compare to and my only other option is the chance of a recurrence in the future that our own equipment will pick up for reference.
I have only two more missions to complete before leaving Delphi. First I have an appointment with the Louvre representative this afternoon to give her a thorough update on the progress of the project. I do not trust this information to be relayed via electronic channels and I also want to officially announce my designs for Katryna. I have decided against any more assistance at the studio and given the strange occurrences over the last few months I am certain I do not want any more unknowns or distractions around me to interfere with the progress of the project. Now that I have decided to include the music aspect into the Equine Experience I will need time to also study this avenue and the presents of new people will interfere with this. I believe it will only be the process of choosing music suitable to interact with the visual and electrical presentation we are producing but I need to explore the possibility that the sound frequencies might interfere with the already present signals being projected by the planned piece. I did say this would complicate an already complex task but as you know I can be quite adamant when an idea takes hold.
Mother’s creation was a triumph last night. Even though all eyes were on the Equine once the performance commenced, I did note some admirable stares from fellow patrons during the pre performance reception. Several inquiries were made as to the source of my gown and I proudly gave the name of our mother’s fashion house and her relationship to me. It may come to nothing more than an appreciation of her work but many of these people will be returning to Earth in the future and they may seek her out. I do not know anything about the logistics of sending her collection to New London but at least she can claim her work is also an item on this planet, An extraterrestrial designer for want of a better nomenclature. I carefully but reluctantly packed away the new ensemble this morning, having left it hanging last night so I could have one last look at it. I was tempted to wear it today as well but I feared it would likely be damaged during my travels through the crowded streets.
After my appointment with the Louvre I will complete my final errand before boarding the Geo-train once more and head for home. I will make a stop at the music conservatory in order to procure some of the recordings available of the Equine inspired compositions. The works are referred to as The euphonies for Glauert’s Equine. I hope to purchase the entire collection along with some contact information for the composers. I would like to be able to confer with them during my research in order to gain more insight into their creative process. It will be educational to speak with one of the musicians about their work and how the Equine inspires them. It will be too much to hope for a future opportunity of a brain scan but one can always dream. Even if I am unable to incorporate the music into our work, I find the idea of creating in my studio surrounded by the music of the spheres appealing on an astronomical level. I only hope the audio system I currently possess can manage the intricate recordings I experienced last night. I am curious why Katryna never mentioned this form of Equine influence. It may be that Neo-Britannians have a different view of this type of tribute to the Anomaly. Katryna always speaks of the Equine in a logical and practical manner. There was never any mention of spiritual connection or godlike worship in any of our discussions. I had the preconception that most natives would have some level of this spiritual attitude to their fellow occupant in space. Now that I have experienced this interaction first hand there seems to be more of a mutual working agreement between the two than any type of devotional adoration. From the journal entry it is clear the Equine is fascinated by music and the emotions it provokes which seems more in lines with a spiritual relationship than business. I will have to explore these thoughts a bit with Katrina as her training begins next week before I come to a decision on my own relationship with the Equine.
After a stop in Newton for supplies I will be headed to the studio. I only hope the weather is more cooperative than on the trip here.
Love always
Victoria
